My name is Christine Bissonnette and I’m a spoken word artist, children’s entertainer, and the founder of this website. I conduct all the interviews you find here and curate the stories.
I’m so grateful to be connecting with you.
One of the questions I ask in all of the Creative Life interviews is: when did you first recognize yourself as being creative. My answer to that question is in grade 4. My first creative explorations took the form of poetry.
In grade seven I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and later that year I wrote a poem titled ‘I’m in there.’ I felt trapped. Art was how, several years later, I found my way out. I found my way out by rediscovering the one thing that I’d always loved about myself.
That one thing was my creative voice.
